Monini North America to Import De Rica Premium Tomato Products

SHELTON, CONN. (Jan. 4, 2019) – Monini North America Inc. today announced it will begin importing De Rica premium Italian tomato products for distribution in the United States this year, debuting the product line Jan. 13-15 at the Specialty Food Association’s Fancy Food Show in San Francisco (booth 1037).

Monini will become the exclusive importer of 10 De Rica products in organic and traditional formats, including double concentrated tomato paste; strained, diced, finely chopped and peeled tomatoes; and pizza sauce with spices.

De Rica has been making tomato products for nearly 50 years from justpicked Italian tomatoes sourced exclusively from Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro, a cooperative of 370 farms that is the largest tomato processing group in Italy and third largest in Europe.

De Rica selects only the finest tomatoes – the top 1 percent of the cooperative’s total output – based on taste, color and aroma. The tomatoes are harvested at their peak goodness within 30 miles of the De Rica plant, where they are immediately processed using an all-natural, environmentally friendly, steam-peeling process that has been used in Italy for centuries.

“Monini’s goal is to become the go-to importer for top-of-the-line, authentic Italian specialty products,” said Marco Petrini, Monini North America Inc. president. “The partnership with De Rica is an important step toward success.”

Monini North America Inc., based in Shelton, Connecticut, is the exclusive importer and distributor of Monini Olive Oil, La Molisana Pasta and Pellini Espresso Coffee, all leading Italian specialty brands.
